HOW TO SPONSOR

We seek sponsors to implement the Read Aloud program and we invite sponsors to contribute at various levels.  An individual or organization may wish to be the single sponsor of a school, or be a co-sponsor for a particular school.  The actual cost of implementing a Read Aloud program at a school depends on the type of school and the number of students who attend the school.

The cost of initiating a RAV program is $400 per school, for eight (8) training and follow up sessions by educators, plus $4/student at accredited schools (passing SOL scores) and $12/student at non-accredited schools (failing SOL scores).  The additional $8/student at non-accredited schools go towards the purchase of books and materials for students unable to afford these items and without access to a school or public library.  Each school that enrolls in RAV also contributes $300 for administrative costs and materials.

Examples of Program Costs

Accredited School (500 students)

$400 for 8 training sessions
$2/student to prizes and awards
$2/student to bookmarks and other materials

Total Cost: $2,400.00
Non-accredited School* (500 students)
$3,000.00  RAV coordinator (part time)
$400 for 8 training sessions
$2/student to prizes and awards
$2/student to bookmarks and other materials
$8/student to books

Total Cost: $9,400.00

Of course, donations are welcomed in any amount and you have the option of choosing a particular school that will receive your funds and “co-partner” with other corporations to fund a RAV program together.

RAV would like to develop long-term relationships between the schools and their corporate partners.  To this end, RAV will provide a Report Card at the end of the school year to inform you of the progress made by the school, and provide you with a chance to choose to partner with the same school again for the next school year.  The following is a list of elementary schools that have expressed interest in the program:

BLACKWELL*
RUBY CARVER
FAIRFIELD COURT*
GEORGE W. CARVER*
MECHANICSVILLE
BON AIR
CRESTWOOD
GEORGE MASON*
NUCKOLS FARM
WHITCOMB COURT*

Please pick a school from this list or any other school that you know might be interested in the RAV program in the central Virginia area.  You may make your donation by using the enclosed pledge card and return envelope.
