Becoming a RAV School

When you commit to Read Aloud Virginia (RAV), you are making a commitment to your students and parents that will change the course of their relationships and academic successes for the rest of their lives!

Your commitment of time for training, leadership, and continuous support will benefit your family, your school, your community, and the citizens of Virginia.

Applications for schools wishing to participate will be reviewed by the Read Aloud Virginia Schools Committee. Please contact the RAV (Read Aloud Virginia) office at 804-232-5683 or visit our website “readaloudva.org” for applications and information.

Accepted schools will be trained by Read Aloud Virginia personnel using RAV school program models. Accepted schools will be asked to pay an application fee of $300 to offset costs for initial training sessions. During training sessions, copies of Jim Trelease’s Read Aloud Handbook will be distributed and discussed.

Read Aloud Virginia is committed to supporting all efforts in your school to strengthen and improve student achievement in academics, as well as student and parent attitudes toward family literacy.

We look forward to working with you!
